Dr. Stefano Farolfi is a CIRAD Senior researcher appointed as a research fellow within CEEPA in January 2002. He was then accredited Senior lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics of the University of Pretoria. CIRAD is the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development.

 

Before his appointment with CIRAD in 2000, he has conducted researches and development programmes within the following institutions: FAO, French National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA), Washington State University, and University of Bologna.

Stefano's main areas of interest are: Integrated water resource management, the analysis of environmental policies and tools & methods for water governance at the catchment level. He is part of the Research Unit G-Eau (Water Management, Actors & Uses) in CIRAD, and is a member of the ComMod (Companion Modelling) group.

 

At CEEPA, after having formulated and managed several projects, Stefano is currently coordinating the research initiative “SAFeWater ARISE”, funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the South African DST.

 

From July 2009 Stefano is a Professor of Environmental Economics at the University E. Mondlane in Maputo, where he is the Scientific Director of the International Center for Water Economics and Governance in Africa (IWEGA).

 

Stefano continues his collaboration with CEEPA as an international research fellow.

He was the CIRAD representative in South Africa from 2006 to 2008.
