The project "Climate, Water and Agriculture: Impacts on and Adaptation of Agro-Ecological Systems in Africa" will implement a series of activities over a three year period beginning in June 2002 leading to enhance the research and policy capacity in Africa, both at the national and regional levels, to: (i) improve national and regional assessments of the economic impact of climate change on the agricultural sector of eleven African countries, and to (ii) determine the economic value of various adaptation options that can be directly implemented by local farmers to limit the adverse impact on local food supply
